What comes to mind when you think of forever with your spouse?
Do images of you both old and grey and holding hands and walking into the sunset bring a smile to your face? Or does a sense of dread fill the pit of your stomach as forever seems like a prison sentence that you just have to get through?
Let’s face it when our marriages are a struggle, when we are constantly in contention with our spouse, forever seems more like a life time behind bars rather than a long walk on the beach.
Jesus promised in John 10:10 (NLT) :
“…My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
A rich and satisfying life! That sounds like the opposite of a prison sentence to me. So what’s our “get out of jail free” card?
Pray for your marriage!
When we want fulfillment of a promise, we first and foremost need return to the one who has made the promise!
It was Jesus that said His purpose is to GIVE us rich and satisfying lives. It’s a gift He wants to bestow upon you! His purpose for dying on the cross was so you can have an abundant life!
It’s a gift He wants to give to you freely. So bring your marriage to Jesus and ask Him to breathe rich and satisfying life back into it!
He wants to GIVE it to you, to your spouse. He wants to GIVE your kids a happy harmonious home to grow up in. He wants to GIVE you hope for the future.
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7 NLT
He has promised His abundance. He wants it for you. So why do we not experience it?
Because we need to ASK.
We need to ask God for that thriving marriage. We need to seek Him until we find it. We need to keep knocking on the door of heaven until it is opened to us.
“So it is impossible for God to lie for we know that his promise and his vow will never change! And now we have run into his heart to hide ourselves in his faithfulness. This is where we find his strength and comfort, for he empowers us to seize what has already been established ahead of time—an unshakable hope!” Hebrews 6:18 TPT
God’s promises never change. Will you take Him at His word? Claim it! Sieze this gift today!
Run into His heart and hide in His faithfulness, for there you will find His strength, comfort and unshakable hope.
Prayer:
Lord I thank you for Jesus and the gift of abundant life that you want to give to me and my marriage. I receive this from you right now. I no longer want to view forever in my marriage as a prison sentence but as a blessing of a rich and satisfying life. Help me Jesus to experience this today. Amen.
